By Irewole Ayodele
Virtual Webinar
Thursday, 26 November 2020, 5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
Irewole Ayodele discusses the role of Geosciences when evaluating reservoir assets for mergers and acquisitions.
In this presentation, Irewole Ayodele will provide a broad overview of M&A initiation and due diligence in the oil and gas industry. Then more details will be provided on the role of geoscientists in conducting due diligence on oil & gas assets.
The lecture will use a few case studies showing what kinds of red flags and pitfalls acquirers should be able to spot, mitigate or avoid for a successful M&A valuation process.
Webinar presented via Zoom on 26 November at 5PM Dubai time.

Virtual Webinar
Thursday, 19 November 2020, 5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
Thulisile Sopete explores the sedimentary evolution of the Pletmos Basin. The Pletmos Basin is a sub-basin of the greater Outeniqua Basin, is located off the south coast of South Africa and is bounded by the Bredasdorp Basin to the west, the Gamtoos Basin to the east and the Southern Outeniqua Basin to the south.
The approach applied in the analysis for this study was based on five selected seismic transects which were interpreted using seismic stratigraphy. These interpretations were incorporated along with composite logs analysis for their respective wells to provide the framework in understanding how the Pletmos Basin evolved sedimentologically.

Thursday, 26 May 2022, 3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
This presentation gives a short overview of Time-lapse (4D) seismic potential over a few case studies from TotalEnergies’ portfolio of assets. It shall begin with a brief introduction of basic concepts of 4D seismic; some of TotalEnergies’ 4D seismic related activities over the years as well as an overview of some published methods and workflows on 4D seismic. Some examples of application of 4D seismic in clastic and carbonate fields, as well as its use in a geomechanical context will be given, and finally conclude with a reflection that 4D is a transverse subject where many disciplines are involved.

Wednesday, 24 February 2021, 2:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
Since the first explorationists discovered the subsurface potential in Tunisia, the country’s institutions took the role of a partner rather than only a regulator. Today, one of ETAP missions is promoting exploration opportunities in Tunisia through both regional and targeted approaches, including sharing knowledge, high-quality data and best practices. ETAP commits to supporting continued drilling activity in mature areas and encouraging/incentivizing exploitation of new and emerging plays.

In this talk, we will review various techniques to assess exploration and appraisal fault seal analysis. These ideas have been developed over the past 20 years based on hundreds of case studies. We will explore the importance of basic mapping skills to ensure consistent and good seismic interpretation and mapping. We will explore the difference between exploration, appraisal and development fault seal analysis. Fault seal capacity will be reviewed using a range of West African fields and stochastic hindcasting. The basis of these techniques is detailed in Murray et al. 2019. The tools and techniques are appropriate for every subsurface professional. In particular, we will consider what sorts of cognitive bias will impact your ability to assess fault seal.
