Local Student Chapter Leadership Summit L-SCLS

The AAPG is accomplishing giant strides within Africa. This year has seen the establishment of AAPG’s regional office in Lagos, Nigeria and the inauguration of the Angolan Chapter. AAPG Africa recently hosted Student Chapter leaders from African Universities to her second Local Student Chapter Leadership Summit, L-SCLS on the continent. The Program was hosted jointly with the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, NAPE – an affiliate of AAPG from 10-11 November 2013 during NAPE’s 31st Annual International Conference and Exhibition. Attendees represented AAPG student chapters from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Kenya. The goals of the summit were vision building, value creation and development of leadership virtues. AAPG Africa is using this leadership summit as part of a drive initiative towards the establishment of new and active Student Chapters on the continent by the end of next year. This drive will see more geoscience students in Africa, benefiting immensely from the presence of AAPG in the region.
